SDSU DPT Students Integrate with Peers for a Cohesive Future
Students from local colleges and universities connect to discuss the future of integrative medicine at historic event
San Diego, California – Some of the best and brightest health professional students in San Diego recently converged at the University of California, San Diego to launch the Academy of Health and Medicine (AIHM) Student Alliance. The event titled, “Stronger Together,” brought students together from a variety of disciplines and different schools to discuss the importance of working together collaboratively to build a strong community of Integrative Medicine practitioners. Students came from UCSD School of Medicine, Bastyr University California, Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, and San Diego State University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program.
In addition to officially connecting, students got the chance to listen to Keynote Speaker and AIHM Chairman Daniel Friedland, MD talk about Healthcare Provider Resiliency and Conscious Leadership.
Dr. Friedland called the gathering of the AIHM Student Alliance “historic” stating, “Students are our future and the launch of this Alliance inspires us with great hope and promise that we will manifest the vision of the Academy—where working together we will establish a new paradigm of health care for humanity and the planet!”
The day also included a Case Study and Integrative Treatment discussion with a panel of highly respected health professionals from the various programs represented in the Student Alliance including SDSU DPT faculty member Dr. Edward Bezkor.To expand their impact, the Student Alliance plans to build a strong student network through participation in educational events, social gatherings, local and global community service, and then back to where it all started, at the AIHM’s annual conference.
